Ramana Maharshi Centre for Learning has been registered as a non-profit society in 1979 with the objective to provide an educational centre open to all where the philosophy of existence, with special reference to the philosophy as propounded by Sri Ramana Maharshi will be studied, practised and disseminated. The objective of the society is also to promote an in-depth understanding of the cultural heritage of India through a study and practise of poetry, music, dance and theatre traditions.


In fulfilling the objects of the society -

The Centre has rendered more than four decades of service in the field of Indian Heritage preservation and education.

The Centre has created and continues to create awareness of the timeless heritage and culture of India through workshops, seminars and cultural festivals all of which are open to the public free of charge. In its four decades of service the Centre has conducted 46 National and 4 International Seminars and conducted more than hundred workshops in English, Kannada and Tamil. In addition, the Centre has organized more than 100 cultural festivals in different parts of India.

The Centre has constructed and maintains a Meditation Hall which is hugely beneficial to the people at large in establishing their minds in peace and harmony. Additional facilities provided to the society by the Centre are an Auditorium, library and a yoga hall.

Free training in Indian Cultural heritage and performance opportunities are provided to more than 500 under-privileged children every year. Our Indian Theatre workshops for children have reached out to nearly 2 lakh children through classes and awareness programs.

We have a permanent troupe of artistes dedicated to the performance of Indian Theatre Arts, recognised and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Our artistes have given more than 750 shows across the globe of the Indian Music production ‘Ramananjali’ and other theatre productions. The unique feature of our troupe is the singular theme of Self-knowledge that is highlighted in every one of the Centre’s productions and presentations. The Centre lays special focus on rural programs and holds at least 2 rural programs every year.

We have built a repertoire of 2000 new songs by Sri Ramana Maharshi and other modern and contemporary poets in various Indian languages set to music by eminent music directors of our times.

The Centre has brought out 250 publications (literary, audio and video) in English, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu and publishes a monthly journal on the life and teachings of Ramana Maharshi.

The Centre has produced and presented 130 theatre productions including dance dramas and musicals in various languages - Hindi, English, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu. A dance-theatre based tele-serial ‘Sri Ramana Leela’ of 125 episodes and also a Natya Shastra based tele-serial of 74 episodes entitled ‘Ramanotsavam’ were telecasted in leading TV and web channels.
